Residential Courses MDs Iraq - AOSCF

Report 1° Editions 2007: the first residential course for Iraqi doctors has been a success, it had been programmed in Rome in the AOSCF and organized by The Operative Unit-International Health and Cooperation of AOSCF, with the support of Landau Network- Centro Volta and practically carried out by VPM. The course had received the financing of the MAE- Task Force Irak. The scientific director had been taken by Gianluca De Vito, president of the VPM, with the help of Dr Vittorio Catalano Gonzaga (administrative director of the VPM). The course was entirely in English, Italian doctors that had participated to the course as tutor, had received 24 “training credits” by the Italian Health Minister. Eight medical directors from hospitals and universities of Iraq had followed the course, helped by an interpreter. Every course were covered by Siscoss Europe Assistance policy.

Official Introduction: the 15 of November, the course started in the Sala del Consiglio of the Direzione Generale, in the presence of General Director Dr. Macchitella, the Sanitarian Director Dr Forino and the Iraqi diplomatic delegation. The registration of the participant, with the distribution of the personal badge , had followed the presentation of the course and the exposition of the timetable. the administrative authorization had been given by the police station within the AOSCF.

A tour presentation of the sanitarian structures were organized by the management in the INMI Lazzaro Spallanzani, and the Hospital university S.Andrea. Given the specialization of the Iraqi doctors, they had participated to several activities:

• International Meeting Forlanini ORL
• Basic Life Support course
• Research activities in the library of AOSCF

At the end of the course, the Iraqi doctors have obtained a certificate of attendance and had written a personal report on the followed activities. At the departure, all the students were accompanied to the Airport Leonardo da Vinci and assisted in all the necessary steps for the living.

Report 2° Edition 2009 : In the Second Residential course, 10 Iraqi medical doctors have participated at the clinic and educational activities, thanks to the organizational support of : AOSCF (operative unit for international health and cooperation), the consortium Laudan Network-Centro Volta (LNCV) and the VPM. The course were financed by the Direzione Generale Cooperazione e Sviluppo under the control of the Prof. Riccardo Radaelli (Catholic University of Milan). The Scientific Director was Dr. Carlo Resti MD (AOSCF) that covered also the role of referent in the training activities, with the support of:

• Dr. Gertrud van Leijen – Tutor in charge for the VPM
• Dr. Sabina de Vito - Administrator of the VPM
• Dr.Gianluigi Gasparetti - MD logistics executive for AOSCF
• Mss. Monica Marinacci - logistics assistance
• Dr. Damiano Fiamin: ngo VPM

The course had taken place with the collaboration of the VPM staff, also in the logistics and administrative parts. Ten Iraqi executive medical doctors, of the 17 that sent their application, followed the course, entirely in English. Four of the ten students were women. The accommodation was in a Religious center near the Hospital, in order also to enforce the exchange and the mutual understanding between two different cultures. The students were assisted from their arrival to the airport , the 3 of November, to their departure. In the night of their arrival, a typical Roman dinner was organized for the students in order to facilitate the relationship between Italian and Iraqi operators. The first day of the course, there had been a presentation of the program, in the presence of the General Director AOSCF Dr. Luigi Macchitella and the UO SIC Director and VPM President Dr. Gianluca de Vito. In the morning, the Iraqi operators were included in the units of the S. Camillo hospital, given their specialization: Gynecology and Obstetrics, emergency medicine and DEA, General Surgery, Pharmacy for clinical, surgical and laboratory activities. In the afternoon, there were lectures , followed by debates. There had been also scientific tours in the INMI and INMP, and the students were invited to the 4° Hospital Cooperation Seminar, included in the EaS Aid 8972 MAE-VPM project in the Lancisiana Academy. An anonymous evaluation form, compiled by the participants, had confirmed the success of this second course.

At the end of the course, the Iraqi Embassy had organized a dinner for the student, in order to thanks the MAE, AOSCF, the VPM and the LNCV for their commitments and activities.

Cours Résidentiel MDS Irak - AOSCF

Report 1° Editions 2007: Le 1° cour résidentiel pour médecins iraquiens s’est déroulé avec succès. Ce cour a été organisé à Rome, à l’intérieur de l’AOSCF, par la UOC Santé Internationale et Coopération AOSCF et le consortium Landau Network- Centro Volta, avec le soutien administratif du VPM. Le cour a été en partie financé par le fond Task Force Irak du MAE. Le Directeur Scientifique a été le Dr. Gianluca de Vito, avec la participation du Dr. Vittorio Catalano Gonzaga, Directeur Administratif du VPM. Le cour s’est déroulé en langue anglaise et a prévu, pour les médecins AOSCF qui ont participé, des crédits de formations reconnus par le Ministère de la Santé italien. Huit Directeurs médicaux, provenant d’institutions hospitalières ou d’universités iraquiennes ont participé au programme, accompagnés par une interprète. Tous les participants ont bénéficié d’une assurance Siscoss Europe Assistance.

Introduction Officielle: le 15 novembre, l’introduction s’est déroulé dans la Sala del Consiglio, de la Direction Générale AOSCF, en présence du Directeur Général Dr. Macchitella, du Directeur Sanitaire Dr. Forino et de la délégation diplomatique iraquienne à Rome. L’enregistrement des participants et la présentation des activité se sont ensuite tenues. En fin de matinée, toute la nécessaire documentation pour les permis de séjour à été déposé au commissariat de l’hôpital S. Camillo.

Des visites ont été organisé par 4 dirigeants auprès de:

• Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria S.Andrea

Quelques participants, selon leur spécialisation, ont participé à d’autres activités:

• Séminaire International Forlanini ORL
• Cours de BLS Basic Life Support
• Activité de recherche dans la bibliothèque du AOSCF

A la fin du cour, les collègues iraquiens ont obtenu un diplôme et ont déposé un compte-rendu sur l’activité. Dans la journée conclusive, tous les participants ont été accompagnés à l’aéroport et suivis jusqu’au départ.

Report 2° Edition 2009 : le 2° cour résidentiel a vu la participation de 10 médecins Iraquiens, dont 4 femmes. Il s’est tenu auprès de l’hôpital S.Camillo-Forlanini (AOSCF) à Rome, et à été organisé par la UOC Santé Internationale et Coopération AOSCF, le consortium Landau Network-Centro Volta (LNCV) et le VPM. Le cour a été cofinancé par la Direction Générale- Coopération et Développement AOSCF, sous la direction du Prof. Riccardo Radaelli (Université Catholique de Milan). Le Directeur Scientifique a été le Dr. Carlo Resti, médecin dirigeant du AOSCF auprès de la UO Santé internationale et coopération, comme référant des activités formatives, avec la collaboration de:

• Dr. Sabina de Vito - Responsable administratif du VPM
• Dr.Gianluigi Gasparetti - MD Résponsabile logistique interne AOSCF
• Mss. Monica Marinacci - Assistente logistique

D’autres collaborateurs du VPM ont garantie la réussite du cour, entièrement en langue anglaise. Dix médecins iraquiens ont été sélectionnés sur les 17 demandes de participation envoyées. Les participants ont été logés dans une structure religieuse près de l’hôpital, afin d’assurer aussi un échange culturel. Les collègues iraquiens ont été accueillis le 3 novembre à l’aéroport et un diner a été organisé le soir pour permettre la connaissance entre les médecins italiens et le collègues iraquiens. Les cours ont commencé le 5 novembre, avec une introduction, en présence du Directeur Général AOSCF Dr. Luigi Macchitella, du Directeur de la UO SIC et Président du VPM Dr. Gianluca de Vito et de la Délégation diplomatique iraquienne à Rome. Le déroulement du cour a prévu, dans la matinée, l’insertion des médecins iraquiens, selon leur spécialité, dans différentes unités opératives di S. Camillo. Gynécologie et Obstétrique, Médecine d’urgence et DEA, Chirurgie Générale, Pharmacie pour les activités clinique-chirurgicales et de laboratoire. Dans l’après-midi, le programme a prévu des leçons et des débats. De même , des visites scientifiques auprès le INMI et le INMP ont été organisés et les médecins iraquiens ont participé au 4° Séminaire de Coopération Hospitalière du projet EaS Aid 8972 MAE-VPM à l’Académie Lancisiana. Le cour a été vivement apprécié par tout les participants. A la fin du projet, l’Ambassade iraquienne de Rome a organisé une soirée pour remercier le MAE, l’AOSCF, le VPM e la LNCV, en espérant qu’une troisième édition puisse être organisée au plus tôt.
